Getting Started
Getting Started With Your New Internet Connection
Just been connected by your internet service provider? This quick checklist covers everything most new customers need in the first few days -- from confirming your router is online to connecting your first device.
Before you do anything else
- Confirm your router/modem has power and its status lights are on.
- Note the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password printed on the router label or given by your installer.
- Keep your account/customer number handy -- you'll need it for payments and support calls.
Connecting your first device
- On your phone, laptop, or smart TV, open Wi-Fi settings and look for the network name from the router label.
- Select it and enter the Wi-Fi password exactly as printed (passwords are case-sensitive).
- Wait 10-15 seconds after connecting before testing a website -- some devices take a moment to get an IP address.
- Open a browser and load any website to confirm you're online.
